Shree KrsnaGuruji’s first lesson clarifies for us that He is a Spiritualist and not a religious figure. He teaches us about the Spirit. The essence of that Spirit is within us; it is that force, that “isness” of our being and it is that which the body cannot live without.
Let us delve deeper to better understand the Spirit. The word Spirit is the designation given to the liveliness of the Lord. The Spirit is at the level of Brahman it is the Self. The spirit-soul or jivatma that we are is the outward reflection of the One Supreme Lord. The inquiry of the Spirit is the inquiry of the Self. The One in you who wants to know itself.
Spirit pervades the created universe and everything in the universe. It is the witness of all actions and yet is not affected by any action. Spirit performs no action in the universe, but without the Spirit, there is no action in the universe.
From God comes His essence, the Purusha. From God comes His creative energy and power called Prakrati and from her Maya which forms everything we know and do not know in this universe. This world, the manifest world, is the creation of the Supreme Divine Consciousness although He directly creates nothing here.
The material world appears as names and forms, but what is it that causes action in the world? It is through the Lord’s creative energy, the Mother Prakriti, and Her power called Maya. Her Maya is the illusory and projecting energy which covers the Truth about you. It projects this world and its players, Maya hides the very Truth that you are the Spirit, the Self alone.
