An unforgettable divine experience revealed through the grace and wisdom of my beloved KrsnaGuruji in the sacred land of Bali.
When my Krsna Guruji and I arrived at the Tanah Lot Temple in Bali, our guide, Wayan Patrini, walked ahead carrying the sacred offerings on her head. As we followed her along the rocky path by the ocean, my Guruji began narrating the divine story of Lord Krishna subduing the poisonous serpent, Kaliya.
Then he paused and asked me, “Do you know what happened after that?”
I softly shook my head.
Krsna Guruji continued, “Krishna commanded Kaliya to leave Vraj Bhumi and never return. With folded hands, Kaliya pleaded, ‘O Lord, spare my life and that of my wives. Send me back to my homeland.’ Yet, he feared Garuda—the mighty king of the skies—who ruled that faraway land. Out of compassion, Krishna blessed him, saying, ‘Go without fear. You shall live peacefully in the land of Garuda and Varuna, the Lord of the Ocean.’”
As my KrsnaGuruji finished narrating the story, we arrived at the sacred spot where the three-hooded serpent is carved in stone, its mouth releasing a gentle stream of water into the vast ocean. We offered our prayers in silence as the priest sprinkled holy water upon us and handed us the blessed water to drink. Oh my God! The moment I tasted it, I gasped — the water was sweet!
The priest explained that during high tide, the mighty ocean rises and covers this entire area, turning its waters salty. Yet, from the serpent’s mouth, the stream miraculously remains sweet — untouched by the sea. My heart trembled, and with folded hands I whispered, “This is where Kaliya lives with his wives.”
In that instant, the story my Krsna Guruji had revealed came alive before my eyes — the divine proof of Lord Krishna’s words resting quietly in the embrace of the ocean.
We then climbed to the top of the cliff to offer prayers at the temple. Guided by the head priest, we performed the rituals dressed in Kebaya, following the Balinese way of worship. After we finished the prayers, my Krsna Guruji revealed that it was the temple of Varuna, the God of the Ocean. The head priest also showed us a Shiva Linga from the Himalayas, symbolizing the unmanifest divinity that Balinese culture reveres.
Just then, Krsna Guruji turned to me and asked, “What is the airline of Bali called?” I replied, “Garuda.” At that moment, everything connected—Kaliya, Garuda, and Varuna—all blessed by Krishna to coexist here in harmony.
I stood speechless, filled with divine bliss, realizing the eternal truth my Krsna Guruji had revealed—Tanah Lot is not just a temple; it is the living proof of Lord Krishna’s words, where heaven, ocean, and divinity unite.
