Who Is God? Teaching Children Faith Through the Story of Prahlad | KrsnaGuruji’s Spiritual Guide for Young Minds

Teaching children about God through the story of Prahlad

There are questions in our adult minds that have lived there since childhood, unanswered and unexplored:

  • Who is God?
  • Where is He?
  • Why can’t I see Him?
  • What does He really do?
  • Why should I develop faith in Him?

For many of us, these questions were either ignored or answered with half-baked responses handed down by people who themselves were unsure. Over time, we accepted those unsatisfactory answers and buried the questions.

But our children deserve more. They deserve the truth—not from guesswork, but from the source of knowledge itself.

KrsnaGuruji is that source. He is not one who has merely studied scripture; He is knowledge incarnate. His wisdom comes not from reading words but from being Truth itself

And so we begin our journey with our children—awakening their minds and hearts to a relationship with God, not as a faraway figure, but as the ever-present protector and source of love.

The Story of Bhakti Prahlad

To answer these questions for our young learners, we begin with one of the most profound devotional stories in spiritual history: the story of Prahlad

Prahlad was born into a family of demons. His father, Hiranyakashipu, was the very embodiment of arrogance and power, declaring himself greater than God. Yet, even before Prahlad was born, divine play ensured that his mother listened to stories of Lord Vishnu while he was still in her womb. From the very first breath of his life, Prahlad’s heart was filled with devotion and love for God.

Despite growing up in a palace where no one spoke of God, Prahlad’s mind remained fixed on Vishnu, the eternal consciousness and epitome of love. His faith was unshakable.

His father tried to turn him away, using threats, punishment, and unimaginable cruelty. Yet, Prahlad never faltered. He would sing, pray, and teach others about God, even while facing unbearable adversity.

In the end, when Hiranyakashipu tried to destroy him, Lord Vishnu Himself descended in the form of Narasimha—the half-man, half-lion—emerging from a pillar to protect His devotee.

The message for our children is simple yet profound:

  • God is everywhere.
  • God protects those who keep their faith strong.
  • No adversity is greater than the power of devotion.

Lessons for Young Minds

From Prahlad’s story, children learn:

  1. Faith is strength. Even in the darkest times, holding onto love for God makes you unshakable.
  1. God is everywhere. He cannot be limited to temples, idols, or distant heavens—He exists in every corner of creation.
  1. Devotion brings protection. When we surrender with pure hearts, God Himself ensures our safety and growth.

A Call to Parents

As parents, we must not let our children’s deepest questions go unanswered. Their young minds are searching for clarity, for truth, for guidance that can anchor them in a changing world.

Our duty is not just to give them academic lessons, but to provide them with the spiritual foundation that Prahlad had—a foundation that keeps them strong, fearless, and rooted in devotion.

Do not wait for them to grow up and stumble into confusion. Begin now. Teach them that God is not a distant idea but a living presence in their hearts, a friend, protector, and guide.

When we plant this seed of faith early, we set our children on a path where no challenge, no storm, and no darkness can shake them.

Closing Thought for Module 1

In Prahlad’s faith, we see the model for our own children: innocence, devotion, and unshakable trust. When they learn that God is love itself, they will live with courage, kindness, and clarity—no matter what the future holds.

Let us begin their journey here, with faith.
