Lesson Four – The Three D’s of Spiritual Life by Shree KrsnaGuruji

Three D’s of Spiritual Life by Shree KrsnaGuruji

The Master teaches us the three D’s to progress in spiritual life.

The first is Dispassion. To have dispassion is not the same as apathy. Dispassion means that you should always do your best and not be focused on the results. We can make a plan and execute it, whether it is successful is not in our hands.

Think about how often you make a plan for your day and think how that day takes its own turns, turns which you could not have imagined. Gurudev says to work on becoming dispassionate. This will keep your mind from swaying and chattering. Just do whatever it is that you must and let go of the results.

The second D is Detachment. You should not be possessive about people, places or things. You are like a guest in the world. You arrived with no possessions and will leave with none. Possessions can inflate your ego and loss of them can deflate it.

Our Spiritual Master says we are just like tenants on the earth and should return everything in the best condition that is possible. Family, house, town, country, vehicle, jewelry and money are all temporary. Detachment from these is very difficult, but detachment will free you.

The third D is Discrimination. Not the worldly discrimination, but discernment of the real from the unreal. Learn the truth about yourself. Discrimination of the real from the unreal is a core knowledge in spirituality.

There is nothing in the created universe that is permanent. From the Sun to the smallest atom, all will come and go. Shree KrsnaGuruji instructions state to fix your mind, body and senses on the One that is changeless. You can call that One by any name you choose, It has no beginning and It has no end. This is Spiritual Discrimination.
